A Timelessly Elegant Wedding at Pynes House, Exeter
Black tie glamour, heartfelt tradition, and James Bond-level cool
There’s something truly special about being a Pynes House wedding photographer — this grand country home tucked away in the Devon countryside offers one of the most breathtaking backdrops for a wedding in the South West.
Ellie and Mat’s elegant country house wedding in Devon had it all: sentimental moments, effortlessly stylish details, and a serious wow-factor arrival back at the venue in an Aston Martin DB5. Think black tie meets timeless romance, all wrapped up in a setting full of history and heart.
A Ceremony Filled With Meaning
The couple said “I do” at the same church where Ellie's grandparents were married decades before — a truly touching tribute that added depth and emotion to the day. Being able to photograph such a personal moment is what I love most about wedding photography.
After the ceremony, Ellie and Mat stepped into a scene straight from a movie: their Aston Martin wedding car was waiting to whisk them away, the iconic DB5 gleaming in the sun — and yes, it brought serious James Bond vibes to their wedding gallery!
Arriving in Style: The Aston Martin DB5
I couldn't have been more excited to capture this part of their day. The Aston Martin DB5 isn’t just a car — it’s a statement. The sleek silver body, classic curves, and cinematic charm added something unforgettable to their portraits.
If you’re looking for wedding car photography with a luxury edge, this gallery is one for the mood board.
Elegant Styling in a Stately Home Setting
Pynes House is the definition of a luxury country house wedding venue — full of historic charm, romantic architecture, and dreamy natural light pouring into every room.
Ellie wore a timeless, classic style wedding dress, long flowing veil, and Mat and his groomsmen wore classic black tuxedos, giving the day a crisp, black tie wedding aesthetic. The bridesmaids looked chic in butter yellow, a timeless spring look which has been a very popular colour this year.
Inside the house, the styling was soft, minimal and romantic: delicate florals, glowing candles and touches of gold added elegance without overwhelming the space.
Golden Hour and Candid Moments
One of my favourite parts of the day was sneaking the couple away for some golden hour portraits around the grounds. The sun dipped low over the gardens, giving us the most flattering, golden light. It was the perfect way to pause, breathe, and soak it all in.
As always, my approach to photography is relaxed and unobtrusive — letting the moments unfold naturally. From the joyful chaos of getting ready to the laughter during speeches, the whole gallery is full of emotion, movement and story.
